Planning a home extension in Glasgow or across Scotland? Murphy Project Management provides MCIOB-qualified project management for single-storey extensions, double-storey extensions, kitchen extensions, garage conversions and loft conversions.
We manage every aspect of your extension from planning and contractor procurement through to quality inspections and final handover — so you get the space you need without the stress.
Every project is managed directly by Michael Murphy — MCIOB qualified with 18 years of hands-on construction experience. We deliberately limit the projects we take on so every client gets our full attention.
We coordinate with your architect and structural engineer, manage your building warrant application and ensure your extension plans are fully compliant before work starts.
We source, vet and appoint the right contractors for your extension — from groundworkers and structural teams through to joiners, plumbers and decorators.
We manage your extension build from day one — overseeing contractors, coordinating trades, and ensuring every stage meets the required standard.
Quality inspection and snagging before handover, all completion certificates in order, and full documentation for your records.
Michael holds the MCIOB qualification from the Chartered Institute of Building — one of the highest credentials in the UK construction industry.
Started as a joiner, worked across construction sites in Scotland for nearly two decades. Understands every aspect of a build from the ground up.
We deliberately cap the number of projects we take on. Every client gets Michael's full attention — not divided focus across too many jobs at once.
Based in Glasgow, covering Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Stirling and all of Scotland.
Day rate or 10–15% of build cost, paid in monthly instalments. No large upfront fees, no hidden costs.
Work with Murphy Construction for the physical build — one family of businesses, total accountability.
It depends on the size and complexity. For large extensions involving multiple trades, structural work or tight budgets, a project manager pays for themselves by keeping costs controlled and quality high. For smaller extensions you may not need full management but a consulting day rate can still add significant value.
A single-storey extension typically takes 8–14 weeks from start to handover depending on size and specification. A double-storey extension takes 14–24 weeks. We'll give you a realistic programme as part of your consultation — we don't give optimistic timelines just to win the work.
Many extensions fall under permitted development rights in Scotland and don't require planning permission. However, size limits, location and property type all affect this. We can advise you at the consultation stage and manage any planning application required.
A single-storey extension in Glasgow typically costs between £1,500 and £2,500 per square metre depending on specification. We'll help you develop a realistic budget before committing to anything.
